Chinese Medicine for Medical Practitioners

This track is designed for Medical Practitioners who seek to integrate the use of Chinese Medicinal Herbs into their medical practice. It is a comprehensive presentation on Oriental Medical Theory and Chinese herbal medicine.

MASTERING THE USE OF HERBAL PILLS
This seminar is invaluable for practitioners using western manufactured herbal formulas. The material presented will allow practitioners many more choices in the pills they use and a deeper understanding of key individual herbs within the formulas.
A common dilemma for practitioners is the differentiation of herb formulas that have the same therapeutic aim and often the same name, but different herbs. These seeming slight variations in formulation render a different
therapeutic action. Attendees will learn to identify and understand functions of certain herbs in the formulas thus allowing them to differentiate their clinical effects. Lifestyle and dietary treatments will be given for the topics covered. Selected formulas from Health Concerns, Kan, Golden Flower, Three Treasures, Women's Treasures and will be presented.

GYNEGOLOGY & INFERTILITY
This seminar is a comprehensive presentation of the physiology, pathology, diagnosis and herbal treatment of women's diseases according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Practitioners will learn the use of twenty-five herbal formulas and treatment protocols for dysmenorrhea, menorrhagia, breast disease, and menopausal symptoms. The second day of the seminar will be dedicated to understanding the complexity of treating infertility. The second day will include current data and etiology on female and male infertility, translating western physiology into TCM terms, differentiating patterns and herbal formula for follicular and luteal phases and treating sperm pathologies in men.

The Tele-Course: This comprehensive six module course presents the foundational theories of Traditional Oriental Medicine and explores the clinical application of Chinese herbal medicine. This course is specifically designed for the self-motivated professional seeking to use time and energy efficiently and effectively. Virtual classes are held via phone conferences for one-and-a-half-hours once a week. Class size will be limited allowing for maximum personal attention and in-depth analysis of the material presented.

Regional On-Site Course: The same course material is presented in both formats; Tele-Course and Regional seminars. The Regional course is conducted in person within a traditional seminar format. Module One, Two and Three are offered in September, October and November. Module Four, Five and Six are offered in February, March and April. The first Module of the series is a three day seminar: Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All subsequent seminars are two days, Saturday and Sunday.

Each module and regional seminar includes a complete set of notes and diagrams. Lectures will reference reading assignments from Giovanni Maciocia's The Foundations of Chinese Medicine and The Practice of Chinese Medicine.

These seminar are designed to educate practitioners in differentiating the clinical application of similar Chinese herbal formulae. This being the fundamental objective, practitioners will learn to identify specific herbs within an herbal script. This knowledge provides the ability to choose the formula most applicable to the patients’ particular symptoms and constitutional needs. This seminar will provide analytical comparison of different formulae with the same therapeutic effect.
